Colorado Organic Producers Association (COPA)
MISSION:
The Colorado Organic Producers Association (COPA) was formed in 1987 to provide education, information, and networking services to promote and facilitate the production, distribution, and consumption of Colorado organic food products. COPA members represent all segments of agriculture — production, processing, wholesale, retail, and consumer.
GOALS:
- To encourage and facilitate the adoption of resource-conserving and environmentally sound agricultural methods.
- To provide consumers with information about the integrity of sustainable agriculture and organic food products.
- To share information regarding organic farming practices based on scientific research and personal experiences.
- To help establish and oversee standards of quality for effective marketing of organic foods.
- To bring growers, processors, distributors, retailers, and consumers together to promote better understanding of the organic trade.
SERVICES:
- Serves as the recognized contact and membership group for organic agriculture in Colorado.
- Promotes Colorado organically grown products.
- Monitors and recommends actions to the official organic certification bodies.
- Assists in the marketing of crops, products, and services through publications such as the Marketing Directory (online at www.OrganicColorado.org).
- Sponsors educational conferences and events.
- Promotes sustainable agriculture.
- Communicates to consumers the integrity and importance of organically grown.
- Facilitates the sharing of critical information among COPA members and others through the COPA Newsletter and our website: www.OrganicColorado.org
